My favorite is to steam it in a pan on the stove. You can also grill asparagus or roast it.
When you are buying asparagus, look at it carefully to make sure the ends do not look dried out. If they look dried out, the asparagus has been cut for a long time and will not taste fresh. I find that smaller stalks of asparagus are more tender.
To roast asparagus, drizzle with olive oil and lightly salt. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roast for 20-30 minutes. Check at 20 minutes for readiness (by sticking with a fork to see if it is tender.)
For steaming, five minutes or until tender when pierced with a fork. Roast for 20-23 minutes. Check during roasting.

STEAMING: Place asparagus in 1/2 inch of water and steam for five minutes or until tender. Serve hot or cold.
GRILLING: Spray asparagus with olive oil spray. Place asparagus on tin foil on the grill or directly on the grill. Grill five minutes or until the asparagus is tender when pierced with a fork.
Asparagus is good with lemon juice sprinkled over it.
